NSW:Gunman foiled in servo heist

SYDNEY, Aug 28 AAP - A service station attendant in Sydney's west has foiled an armed
robbery attempt by locking himself in a storeroom.

A bandit armed with a handgun entered the service station at Granville and threatened
the employee on Friday night.

But the employee locked himself in a storeroom, and the gunman found he was unable
to open the cash register.

The offender ran empty handed from the petrol station at the intersection of Blaxcell
and William Streets.

He was last seen wearing a green fur-lined hooded jacket, black tracksuit pants and
white joggers and carrying a handgun.
