Vic: Eleven people in Victoria sent for swine flu testing

MELBOURNE, April 29 AAP - Eleven Victorians who recently arrived home off flights from
North America are being tested for swine flu.

A spokesman for Victoria's Chief Health Officer Dr John Carnie said samples have been
taken from the 11 who have come down with flu-like symptoms.

Those samples have been sent to a laboratory for testing for influenza A.

Results are expected to be known late on Wednesday.

"If those tests are positive then they will be sent for further testing," the spokesman said.

People coming off planes from infected countries were being monitored, checked for
the disease, and sent for further tests if required, the spokesman said.

The 11 who have been sent for testing were all referred after visiting their general
practitioners or hospital emergency departments.

But three Victorians who shared a flight from Los Angeles with New Zealand students
confirmed to have swine flu have all been cleared.

"They are all okay, we have been in touch with them and none have fallen ill. If they
fall ill they will get in touch."

There have been no confirmed cases of the swine flu in Victoria.
