WA; Firefighters mop up after major blazes

Firefighters are mopping up after two major blazes that forced the evacuation of a
prison farm, destroyed more than 30 vehicles and closed a major highway, east of Perth.

The fires began in the rural areas of the Chittering Valley and Wooroloo in 40 degree
heat yesterday afternoon and burnt through an estimated 2,500 hectares.

About 200 inmates from the minimum security Wooroloo prison farm had to be taken to
